Training and Safety.
Scott County Fire Department is seeking an experienced fire-service leader to develop, deliver, and manage the department training program. The selected candidate will direct training and health and safety activities and will also serve as a Safety Officer.
Develop curriculum, lesson plans, lectures, course overviews, and company drills.
Provide training and continuing education supporting Firefighter and EMT recertification.
Identify health and safety hazards and develop corrective actions.
Serve as a Safety Officer and monitor conditions, hazards, risks, entry, and egress at incidents.
Maintain OSHA compliance at County fire stations and complete annual OSHA 300 logs.
Required qualifications
Experience and credentials.
- High school diploma or GED
- Seven years of active full-time fire service experience, including four years in an administrative or supervisory capacity
- Kentucky Fire Commission Basic 2 certification
- Kentucky Fire Commission or IFSAC/Pro Board Fire Instructor Level I certification
- IFSAC/Pro Board Firefighter I and II certification
- IFSAC/Pro Board Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations certification
- Kentucky 1403 endorsement
- Current Kentucky EMT certification
- Ability to develop and deliver curriculum based on recognized Firefighting, Hazardous Materials Response, EMS, and Rescue standards and practices
- Ability to obtain Kentucky Fire Commission Fire Instructor Level II certification within 12 months of employment

Firefighter applicant qualifications.

Qualified candidates may be invited to written and oral examinations. Test-preparation study materials are provided during an active hiring process, and successful candidates may be placed on a hiring list that remains active for at least three months.
